Where are my Results? Ways you could be self-sabotaging.

Most of us have love/hate relationship with exercise- although I’m happy to report that as you age its usually more love than hate. Most of us have the ability to choose which type of exercise we want to do, for what result. But what if you feel as though nothing “works”? Where are MY results?

  1. Are you being realistic with what you consider a RESULT? We all have particular genetics and time for example. If you come from a family with slow metabolisms, a love for watching sport (not participating), showing love through food, and you haven’t reached a 5 kilo weight loss goal in 3 weeks for your cousins wedding- are you beating yourself up? And then giving up- “I’m just not an exercise person (and I don’t look like those Matildas’ girls - that btw have been training professionally THEIR WHOLE LIFE!” “Nothing ever works for me”.

  2. Was your input equal to your expectations? For example- if you want VISIBLE & MEASURABLE change in your body, it’s not a once-a-week exercise class input. That’s a lot of pressure on one hour a week! Change your nutrition plan, and exercise daily. Then you will see visible changes. A weekly or twice weekly class will produce internal change only- less stress, feeling more positive about yourself and your ability to change other areas of your life to support the ‘new’ healthier you. Don’t get me wrong- you will absolutely see visible change over the LONG term- 10 weeks to six months. And remember, I’m talking ANY exercise, not just your exercise here in the Studio.

  3. Are you recognizing the small improvements you ARE achieving and using them to spur you on (not rewarding or celebrating with sabotaging old behaviors such as food/alcohol rewards). Consistency is the number one thing that needs to be recognized, once you’re regularly attending classes, then start cleaning up your nutrition. Once you’ve nailed nutrition Monday to Friday, then add Saturday too (let me tell you a weekly Treat Day, tastes SOOOO good). Once you get those classes nailed- restart your favorite Summer hobby or bushwalk with the dogs or friends weekly. Before you know you will be NAILING your fitness (and your happiness) goals.
